ORQUESTA TIPICA KINGFIELD

Kingfield Ensemble is an orquesta tipica that functions as the advanced wing of Twin Cities Tango Collective. As a rare large-format tango ensemble in North America, and a collection of professional musicians / independent artists, Kingfield Ensemble is a flagship project that plays real, traditional and contemporary tango music.

Kingfield Ensemble spans from 8-16 musicians: up to 4 bandoneons, 4-5 violins, 2 viola, 2 cello, piano, bass, guitar. The ensemble rehearses at the Center For Performing Arts in Minneapolis on Thursday mornings, seasonally. Kingfield is an invitation-based group that plays a limited set of local performances, studies tango music together, and occasionally pursues other ventures and collaborations: for example, Kingfield served as the resident ensemble for the Tango Sin Fin workshop at Reed College in Portland 2022, working closely with some of the best tango musicians in the world.

The ensemble plays the classic tango music of Osvaldo Pugliese, Anibal Troilo, Juan D’Arienzo, Carlos Di Sarli, Alfredo Gobbi, and modern tango composers.
